Gordon was a reporter/photographer for the Honolulu Advertiser, Hawai`i's daily morning newspaper, for sixteen years. Gordon operated Holo-Holo Campers, for twenty years, a company that offered Hawai`i's visitors an opportunity to experience the secret, 'hidden Hawai`i'. He started skiing services atop snow-capped Mauna Kea, and served as outfitter and resource person for adventurers, archeologists, scientists, journalists and photographers alike, who studied and explored Owhyhee (Hawai`i the Big Island) in depth. He has lived on the Island of Owhyhee since 1967, where he and his family own the Historic Lyman Missionary House situated on the outskirts of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Today it is "My Island Bed and Breakfast Inn" a retreat for visitors from around the world. Please click here to visit " My Island Bed and Breakfast Inn". Illustrations for all books are by Joann W. Morse, a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Art, who had a career in advertising art in Boston and Honolulu, and produces fine art on commission. Fifty years ago she produced Hawaii's first coloring book for children. |
